Hi, Romance Readers! I’m so grateful you’re here.

We’ve already introduced you to the Romance Room, but as a fellow user of the internet, I think it helps to know a bit about the folks who are recommending books to you. And as a thank you for indulging me for the time I’m taking away from your latest read, I have a surprise for you at the end of this post (spoiler alert: I’m giving away a stack of romances and a Romance Reader hat).

So who am I? I’m Kristina, HarperCollins Canada’s Digital Marketing Associate, aka that human you see on our Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. I’m a former competitive figure skater, current avid hiker, and owner of a tortie cat (she’s missing a tail), a black cat (he’s missing his eyes… and most of his teeth), and a rescue shepherd-malinois mix (who is velcroed to my side at any hour of the day). Obligatory pet photos below 🐾

But most importantly to you, I am a lover of romance books and have been since I discovered Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake in 2022. Last year, of the 56 books I read, 47 were romance. I do not discriminate between audiobooks, eBooks, and physical books—I admittedly have one of each on the go at any given moment—but there is truly nothing like the feeling of flipping pages.

All that said, what better way to get to know a fellow reader than through their favourite books. Here is an absolutely not exhaustive list of the books that immediately come to mind whenever I’m asked this question:

When it comes to tropes, I love a good friends-to-lovers, grumpy-sunshine pairing with found family and good mental health representation. But if you want to give me enemies-to-lovers with some forced proximity and added spice, I also won’t be mad about it. Bonus points are always given to the sapphics, but I’m not picky. I wrote my wedding day vows to my wife to include quotes from all of my favourite romances, so needless to say, I’ll take anything that leaves my heart full. (Yes, I am a sap.)
